A traveler's haven

Thunderbird Resort in San Fernando, La Union was one of my wishlists few years ago. That one day, someday, I'll get the chance to check-in in that hotel, not just looking it from a far because I was very fascinated on how it looks like even just from a far. A Greek inspired motif, it's all about Blue and White buildings, Clean and Green surroundings. This place is the best place for relaxing and bonding.
We've been discussing to where we will celebrate dad's birthday this year, so we came up of doing it on Thunderbird Resort since it's only 1.5hrs travel from Baguio City. I'm very excited, I mean really really, at long last I'll be going inside that resort for the first time, I've been reading blogs about the place and mostly what amazed them was the structures of the resort, it's like bringing Santorini, Greece in La Union. We'll Greece is listed on my places I want to visit, very far from reality I know (LOL) but there's nothing harm in dreaming of all the things that are impossible, right?

Picture
As we passed by the resort's gate and slowly we are heading to that white building, all I'm saying  was "WOW" I was totally amazed with the place, the green and clean golf course on the side, everything white and blue on sight. I was thinking how they maintained the cleanliness of such a huge place like this.
On the reception area, It was just a simple receiving place for guests, with a view of the sea, the fresh air and finally, I got to see the famous and most picture "DOME" sight. Oh Yeah! at least, I have my own copy now, not just seeing them on blogs. LOL

Since we are all seven adults and 1 infant, we decided to rent a Villa, not a hotel room. The Villa has 3 bedrooms, Kitchen, Living room, a roof top but it is really the kitchen that made us decided to go for Villa because we want to cook for dinner for dad's birthday celebration. The entire Villa was superb in terms of interior designs, how the place was really well planned, a small haven but spacious. They got individual T.V on every room with cable on it and of course life could be boring without WiFi, thunderbird will assign you a password for your WiFi connection so there's no reason why you can't share your vacation with your friends.

After having some hours of rest from a not- so-long land travel, well we are just trying to enjoy the entire house anyway (LOL) we went outside and made some walk around the resort, There are villas available for sale and some piece of lands also for sale, so basically Thunderbird Resort tries to create a community inside its resort. A subdivision and a resort in one place. We strolled around and truly I got so fascinated with the place, the cleanliness, the fresh air, oh! the everything! I so love everything! (lels, exaggerate!)

Since we really want to maximize our time, late in the afternoon we plunge into their swimming pool. It was okay, I mean the swimming pool is not that really huge, but the design is nice, well it's just really the "baby dome" that made it so nice to look at (opps! just an honest review.LoL), nice ambiance at night but the staff at the poolside need to ask what room you are at, I don't think you'll swim if you're not a guest or a member since it's a private place, I just don't get it, why they need to ask before you could swim.
I was kinda disappointed also with the beach, we thought we could enjoy the beach but we didn't, it's too rocky and the wave was too rough.

This is what I call the "Baby Dome"
Picture
Can you see the "Baby Dome"? LOL
Complimentary breakfast is being serve at the Olive's restaurant and it was in buffet, oh yeah! lol. I like restaurant location, ocean front view where you can breath the fresh air. The food was great, from american to filipino breakfast. I was little bit disappointed with their dried danggit because it was too salty, they should have the unsalted one :) Many drinks to choose from, coffee, hot choco, cold choco and other juices but what we really love was the watermelon juice.

Overall, our stay at this resort was one of the best out of town gate-away that our family had. This is the best place if you want to relax your mind and body. A little bit pricey but money worth. Come here with your family, surely the kids will enjoy the pool, the oldies will enjoy the beauty of nature that this place can offer to them, the young ones can enjoy  to look around and enjoy the whole vicinity and  to take some good photos of this little piece of Santorini.

After our coron tour last 2010, Its always been a wish to visit coron again because i really fell in love with its enchanted view.

By this time, visiting the place was one of my priceless moment because we are celebrating papa's birthday. Tagjo and Jessa flew from CDO just to be with us and I'm rely thankful that they find ways and give some of their time for the celebration.
We took the morning flight to Busuanga and arrange our stay at Darayonan Lodge (www.darayonanlodge.com). We choose the same place to stay in because we were satisfied with their services the last time we went there. When we are out of the airport, we saw our name on the placard made by Darayonan welcoming us and a staff approached us and lead us to our transfers. It took about 20mins from the airport to the Coron town. Upon arrival, they gave us a welcome drink and then we checked in. We decided to take our lunch before our coron loop.

Coron loop was composed of siete pecados, barracuda lake, kayangan lake and twin peaks.
In siete pecados, we are not allowed to fish feed, he government of coron prohibit tourists to feed the fish to bring back its natural habitat and not to just wait someone to feed the them. I was sad of it because it is where we can have a great fish feeding experience but somehow it was okay for bringing the fish to its habitat.

Kayangan lake was magical as ever. This time mama and papa didn't allow this moment to experience the picturesque of kayangan. We went up the hill and at the top is the best to take picture, it took 15 to 20mins walk to the lake. As usual Mosquitos are all around us, I forgot to bring insect repellant lotion but we got to managed the bites, lol. Thank God Coron is Malaria free.

It was high tide when we enter the barracuda lake, it was just me, Tagjo, Jessa and Willie went there. I just let them enjoy the swimming in a cold salt and fresh water. That made Coron so special with its enchanted gift that sorrounds the island.
Picture
I am also excited to visit the Maquinit Hot Spring because I wasn't able to visit the place the last time we went here. Hot and salty water, that makes it weird. Perfect for relaxtion.

Info: 150PhP/ adult for non-residents; 120PhP for Senior Citizen; 75phP for children from 5-10 years old and Free for children below 5 years old.

We didn't miss the chance to visit Culion Island this time. As our history is concern, this place called as the leprosy colony back in 1901. This is  small island and isolated area just for lepers who need medical treatment but that was before, Today, Culion aim to be a leprosy-free island.

What can you see in Culion? definitely its clean seashore that made my  brother indulge the water just right at the  docking area. LoL. You will know more about the island and its people by visiting the museum, located near at the hospital. Museum was great, a must visit place when you are there. They still have the apparatuses and all that they used for lepers, lists of congregations who had medical missions, they also have their own monetary units that the government made just for Culion. Don't miss the to visit and offer your prayers to their beautiful and old church and enjoy the scenery near the bell tower. I really could say, my travel to Coron this time was extraordinary because of Culion.

I shared my hongkong escapade with my two lovely ate,  biologically not but we are sisters by heart (ahem!). Ate Christine, ate ruby and me took the 5:40am flight via Cebu pacific air (ate tin and ate ruby got their tickets early of 2011 that made them pay 5k php roundtrip tickets for the two of them, oh yeah! Thats what I'm talking about air fare promos)  we arrived at the hongkong international airport at around 7:40 . Upon queuing at the immigration it is advisable to prepare all your valid documents, hotel reservations, round trip tickets, credit cards and money because there are some immigration personnel that might look some of these. You don't need to be nervous, just answer all their questions, these may include; who's with you?, how many are you? What's the purpose of your trip? Where are you staying and how many days? Where are you planning to go?.
We finally out from the immigration I guess around 9am, ate laids, my mom's first cousin fetch us from the airport and guided us to our guesthouse located at Nathan road,  Tsim sha tsui. The room is quite good, 1 double decked bed with  bathroom and a desktop that is free of use, the building itself has free wi-fi.  After settling our things and rest for some minutes, we went out and took our Brunch at mcdo, (oh my! No rice! Hehehe.)

Day 1 - Ngong Ping 360, Lantau island

After our meal, we decided to visit Lantau island, where you can find the big Tian Tan Buddha and the Po Lin monastery. From Tung Chung MTR station we rode a bus for Lantau island, it took an hour to get there.  We wanted to go their by cable car but due to maintenance we go there by bus.
The Tian Tan Buddha was formed out of 202 separate pieces of bronze. In addition to the exterior components, there is a strong steel framework inside the statue to support the heavy load. When the statue was completed, monks from around the world were invited to the opening ceremony. Distinguished visitors from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and the United States all took part in the proceedings. Going up to the Big Buddha is a hundred steps

Day 2 - Let's go to Disneyland!
Disneyland open from 10:00am to 8:00pm. Disneyland is much accessible by MTR because it has Disneyland station that will take you directly to Disneyland resort  via sunny bay interchange. We spent the whole day at Disneyland for half day is not enough to stroll around the huge space. We took a picture with Mickey mouse, Minnie mouse, Pluto, Donald duck, Winnie the pooh and others. I enjoyed the "it's a small world" cruise show and the PhilharMagic 3D show especially when Ariel sings Part of your world (obviously, Ariel is my favorite cartoon character hehehehe)

There are some rides too that you and your kids can enjoy to but they are just mild rides not as extreme as you can find at ocean park (I'll talk about this at our day4).  Disneyland is divided into 5 parts; the toy story land, adventure land, fantasyland, tomorrow land and the main street, USA. When entering the Disneyland resort don't forget to get a map guide.

Picture
At 5pm, watch the amazing float parade and character parade at the main street. All activities will be stop for awhile when the parade will about to start for every one have the time to watch it.

Don't leave the vicinity without witnessing it's spectacular fireworks display in front of the sleeping beauty castle. You will be amaze and you will feel the magic of disneyland.

Day 3 - Hola Macau!

A Portuguese colony, a more or less 500,000 in population, Macau is one hour away from hongkong via ferry that cost 290 HKD for roundtrip tickets. When visiting Macau, you don't have to change your HKD to macau petaka (MOP) because HKD is acceptable in Macau. Some of the slot machines in some casinos found in macau doesn't accept macau's petaka but instead a hongkong dollar that is according to our tour guide because we didn't gamble at the Venetian we just want to see and take pictures at their grand canal, hehehehee. Well, we took the tour offered located at their information center just outside the immigration. It cost HK$102 per person and just tell the tour guide ahead of your departure going back to Hongkong so that they will bring you back on time at the terminal.

Picture
Our first stop was at the ruins of St. Paul church. It was the Jesuits who are settled in Macau way back in 1565 who spread Christianity. After its explosion the building was abandoned and was then handed our to the Leal Senado. The facade is like an altar piece reached by going up the imposing flight of steps. You can find 15 religious images. That includes; Immaculate Conception, an Angel carrying a cross, God-Child savior of the world, sea star guiding the church, Holy Spirit of the world, seven branches candle holder, the beautified Francisco de Borja, St. Ignatius, The Dove representing the holy spirit, Angel carrying a scourging pilar, The apocalyptic woman, lady of Assumptions, Our Lady, St. Francisco Xavier and the beautified Luis Gonzaga.

Picture
After the restoration work, the ruins was turned into a museum.  The ruins are the emblem of Macau and now offer visitors a new monument where they can view the remains of the former Church of the Mother of God and then visit a Crypt where the relics of the Martyrs of Japan and Vietnam rest, and a museum of Sacred Art where there are exhibits of paintings, sculptures and liturgical objects from churches and monasteries in the City. When entering at this place, please observe silence.

Picture
After at the ruins, we walked to the oldest streets in Macau going to the Senado Square. This is where you can find great and old building structures that you will surely enjoy to look at to, many stores, delicacies and other goods available at this site. Leal Senado ( means Loyal Senate) Building was the seat of government during its time as Portuguese Colony, you can find the building at the end of the Senado Square. We had our good taste lunch at this area. Yum! Yum!

Picture
Next stop was at the oldest Temple in Macau, the A-Ma Temple. The A-Ma Temple is located at the southeast of Macau Peninsula. It was contructed in the year 1488 of the Ming Dynasty to commemorate Mazu, the sacred sea goddess who blesses the fisherman in Macau. The temple contains six main parts, all of which make up a series of classical Chinese architectural treasures, and this is all guarded by stone lions It was constructed mainly using bricks and stone in a simple style.

Picture
Macau Sky Tower was included on our itinerary but because its too cloudy, we escape to visit it because there is nothing to see in there according to Mr. Che our tour guide. So, we went directly to Taipa Museum Houses on the south side pa Taipa Island.  The museum complex consists of five houses displaying various artefacts and exhibits. The houses used to look out over the sea, but due to the land reclamation of the Cotao Strip between Taipa and Coloane, they are now next to a small lake. This was a great time too of picture taking because of the great view.

Picture
Last Stop - Venetian Hotel and Casino Resort.
Okay, we went to this casino not to gamble but just had a Venetian experience, lol. You will really be fascinated by how luxurious this hotel can be. The structure and the interior that will surely amazes you. We roam around the hotel for we must find our exit to the bus terminal because we might be get late for our departure at the ferry.  From the hotel we took the free shuttle to the ferry terminal. Our departure time was 5:30pm. It was a tiring day but we all had a great time strolling around Macau. Wooottt!

Picture
Day 5 - Ocean Park

I was less excited to visit the Ocean Adventure due to the expectation that twas just similarly like Manila Ocean Park or Ocean adventure in Subic that all you can see are hundreds kind of fishes, jelly fish and all ocean creature, but what really excites me was the cable car to reach the mountain of extreme excitement I could say (lol) where you can find and experience extreme adrenaline rush rides

Picture
I never tried those extreme rides because I'm not on the mood, oh well, okay, because I am afraid,  hahahaha. Only ate tin and ate rubs has the guts to try some of the rides, and all I did was to took pictures of them and I just helping myself to watch and enjoy the beautiful spots in the area. Ocean Park vicinity is huge as Disneyland or perhaps Disneyland is quite bigger than this.

Day 1 - Strolling at the City

Here at the Puerto Princesa airport waiting for our trip going back to Manila, we spent 4days and 3 nights at the last frontier of the Philippines. Puerto Princesa is quite different from the last time I visited 8 years ago. They already have big department stores, Robinson's is on it's way to completion with it's GoHotel beside the mall.

We arrived at the Puerto Princesa airport around 12:30pm, a  hotel relation officer from Kawayanan Resort fetch us with Its resort vehicle. We had Lunch at the resort they prepared delicious seafoods which we did really enjoyed. After the good meal, we rested for awhile and we begin our city tour activity with our cute and lovely tour guide, Angel.

We first went to their bay walk site, it's similar with Manila baywalk they only differ on the on the cleanliness of air and the bay, lol. Our next stop was their Immaculate Conception Chruch, it is one of Palawan's oldest church, Thanks to Angel for bringing us there for we had the chance to pray and meditate. Then followed by at the Souvenir Tiangge where you can buy original pearls either fresh or salt water pearls at the most lowest price.
Picture
Crocodile Farm - You can find the skeleton of the biggest crocodile captured in Palawan just right the entrance of the museum building. aside from crocodiles you can more explore of the place there are some animals that are available for viewing and taking picture of it, you can hold a bearcat and a live baby crocodile around your shoulder  and take some photo of them, surely kids would love it. And also don't forget to try its crocodile sisig, oh yeah! it taste really good at mapapaisip ka kung talagang buwaya ang kinakain mo kasi walang amoy at masarap ang lasa nito. You should not be leaving the farm without tasting it. =)

Picture
Next stop was at the Baker's Hill, where you can find one of the best hopia in the Philippines, =) They offer a wide variety of  delicacies that you'll surely love and also the you can strolling around the bakery compound, they put some cartoon figures that you and your kids will enjoy, you can see life size looney tones' characters. Bring out some of their delicacies for pasalubong would be great.

After our afternoon city tour, we went back to the resort and have a rest for awhile before indulging into the pool! yeheeyyyy!! nag enjoy ang mga taga bukid sa swimming pool.. woooottt!

Picture
Day2 - our day two was our underground river tour, the PPUR was already confirmed and officially declared as one of the new 7 wonders of nature for 2012.  Underground river is located at Sabang and it is 2hrs away from Puerto Princesa. Your trip is not complete without visiting the famous underground river. From the Sabang wharf, it takes more or less 15 minutes boat ride to the river entrance and you can take pictures with its great rock formation, you can also see some bayawaks on the ground and also monkeys, but take good care of your personal belongings because they might steal it from you, beware of bringing plastics bags for this will sight them as foods, don't feed them.

I am still amazed with all the formation inside the river,  some of it was still the same 8years ago but there some that are new. Our boatman has a lot of humors there is no dull moment during the whole underground river cruise, I guess they were trained very well with their local government.

Picture
Day3 - island hopping at Honda bay

I was really excited with this activity,  I love the corals, I love the fishes, I love everything under the sea. We had our coral watching and snorkeling at the Pambato Coral Reef, It's a joint project with ABS-CBN and the local government.
We had our lunch at the snake island, it's a long stretch of white island - snake shaped thats why they call it snake island. You can enjoy your snorkeling here, you can find fishes just few steps from the shore, surely kids and all ages will enjoy this scenery.  We supposed to visit another island but due to bad weather and huge waves, our tour guide decided to spend the whole afternoon at snake island which my companions really enjoyed it. We went back to the wharf at around 4pm and we experienced huge waves upon going back that made my companions nervous,, okay me included.. Hehehehee. When we arrived at the resort we spent our time soaking at the pool, oh yeah!

Day4- departed puerto Princesa at morning, and went back home bringing all the memories we had at the fascinating island of Palawan.

Since we are a member of RCI and we attended its yearly meet and greet in Manila, they gave us a vacation promo. There were 7 destinations to choose from namely, Cebu, Tagaytay, Boracay and Malaysia. We choose Malaysia.

Day 1 - From Highlands to Highlands

Picture
When we arrived in KL low cost carrier terminal or commonly called by it's abbreviation LCCT  and we finished the long queue at the immigration, we directly went outside the airport and get a bus ticket for Genting Highlands which is about a 3hrs bus ride. Awana Country and Golf club resort is just along the highway going up to the highlands but since our bus was a non stop bus, we were like "oh yun  na hotel natin ah, pwede kaya bumaba?" but we where thinking, the hotel entrance is at the right side and the bus lane was at the left since they have left handed vehicles and there is no way to crossed with then we discussed "okay, maybe they don't allow passengers to just say stop and let them out of the bus, Hindi Ito pilipinas" and we decided to take the full stop at the highland terminal. When we stepped out from the bus "okay, what's next, lol" and we started to ask from people on how to get to Awana Resort and we ended up riding the cable car late at night, the experience was great although it's a little bit scary because it's about 15-20minutes ride going down to sky way and all you can hear from outside was the noisy nocturnal creatures (lol), and I was just very silent while we were at the cable car and from time to time I asked "malayo pa ba?,tagal naman" "Ayan na ata station, malapit na" yun pala ilaw lang poste. Hehehehe...so, to make it short, we arrived at the station safe and sound? Lels. Outside the station we waited for the free shuttle going to Awana. It's almost 10:00pm when we arrived at the hotel and we wrere assisted by the Malaysian receptionist and handed our room keys.. Oh yeah, it was a tiring journey from highlands of Baguio to the highlands of Genting but its all worth it, the experience was just awesome!

Day 2 - 3 : Exploring Genting

Picture
We spent 3 days in Genting Highlands and we usually begin our lakwatsa around 11am, we will start it with a mouthwatering food offered at YIK KEE Restaurant, a Chinese Restaurant in Gothong Jaya, at last nakakita na rin kami ng magandang pagkain kasi since we arrived puro nalang Malay foods ang nakakain namin which is very spicy. After lunch we will go to the highlands riding either the cable car or a bus and we always choose to ride the bus going up and the cable car going down to our hotel since Awana Resorts gave us fourteen complimentary tickets for cable car.

The weather in Genting is quite cold but not as cold as Benguet (I guess, lels). Hmmm, so What you can see in Genting? Well, they have this outdoor and indoor amusement park but we don’t have a chance to go to their outdoor but we did enjoy the indoor amusement because there is a mini roller coaster running over at the food court where we eat our dinner, so medyo maingay at maraming tao sa loob kasi mall sya na may amusement, if you have kids they will surely love it there. You can also see a Ripley’s believe it or not museum with an entrance fee of RM40 each. Also experience its  glow in a dark bowling place (guys! Sino nga yung winner na laging nakaka strike??  :P) You can also have your shopping spree at the mall, some stores offers sales and low prices.

Okay, enough with the mall activities. Let’s go nature! In Awana, they offer a nature trail, in Gothong Jaya; you can visit its hydro phonic strawberry farm, mushroom farm, orchid farm and organic vegetable farm before going out from the farm don’t forget to try its strawberry coffee available inside, it really tastes good and you can even buy some for pasalubong. All farms are all connected with each other so you don’t need to travel from one place to another and take note all have no entrance fees!  You can also visit a temple in Genting riding a cable car or a bus.

Picture

One thing I like about having a vacation in Genting Highlands is that bus transfers from your hotel or getting around the highlands is free! Yes, the shuttle is free anywhere in the Highlands, you just need to catch the bus at the designated station and look for the schedule.

The schedule of the bus and the cable car are posted in all its Bus station, all you have to do is be there at the exact shcheduled time and you can enjoy your ride in the entire Highlands. =)

Day 4 - Spent in Kuala Lumpur

Picture
Our reservation at Awana was 1 week, but we decided to spend our fifth day at Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur. We checked out at the hotel at around 11am and ride a bus that will take us to the Skyway where you can find the bus terminal going to KL. Genting highland is 2hrs away from Kuala Lumpur.

When we arrived at KL we directly go to MyHotel Sentral which we had our reservation. It is just located outside the Stensen Station so it is just very convenient for us. We had Chinese food again on our lunch =) ayaw na naming ng spicy food hehehe..  after lunch, since it was raining we decided to just  stay at the hotel and at around 6pm we went out

Day 5 - KL City Tour

We woke up early in the morning because we will be having our city tour. Anwar, our tour guide fetches us at the hotel around 8am with his car and let’s start the tour!

Picture
Ø  Putra Jaya – Where you can find their government offices which is still into completion. The Prime Minister’s Place and you can see amazing building structures and designs with a man-made lake surrounds it, also they have a PICC in Malaysia. Putra Jaya International Convention Center. Lol.

Picture

Ø  Batu Caves – Batu Caves is an Indian Temple, but today, it is more on a tourist place. It has more than 300 steps going up before you can get inside and all you can is its religious images. Aside from tourists, you can see a lot of monkeys just few steps away from you. Just beware of the things you bring along because monkeys might grab of what you are holding, especially when you bring along a plastic bag.

Picture
Ø  Royal Selangor - It is a group of companies that makes Pewter products. Tin + Antimony + Copper = Pewter. In this tour, Royal Selangor open its company to the public, they will show how a certain product made and how it will be done, the process until finish products. They also have a shop inside, where you can buy its different products for souvenirs.

Picture

Ø  Chinese Temple – just like any other Chinese temple in Philippines. But I should say, Taoist Temple in Cebu is nicer and has a big area than this Chinese Temple in KL. They renovated the whole place when we went there, in preparing for its feast day. This is temple is always part of a city tour itinerary. You can also go inside the temple but make sure you will leave your shoes and slippers outside to give respect of the temple.

Picture
Ø  Petronas Towers – This is the famous landmark in Kuala Lumpur.  The Petronas Towers were the tallest buildings in the world for six years, until Taipei 101 was completed in 2004. It was designed by Argentine architect César Pelli and Filipino-Malaysian Engineer Deejay Cerico under the consultancy of J. C. Guinto, and Filipino Designer Dominic "Minick" Saibo, the Petronas Towers were completed in 1998 after seven years of construction and became the tallest buildings in the world.  The towers feature a skybridge between the two towers on 41st and 42nd floors, which is the highest 2-story bridge in the world.  It is not attached to the main structure, but is instead designed to slide in and out of the towers to prevent it from breaking  s the towers sway several feet  in towards and away from each other during high winds.  (Source: Wikipedia)

At the feet of the towers you can find the Suria KLCC it is a upmarket retail podium where you can find mostly of the foreign luxury goods and high-street labels.

Picture
Ø  Central Market – this is the souvenirs place. You can have great deals and discounted price all you have to do is ask for it. Wide variety of souvenirs from home decors to shirts and Malay products.
China town was included in our itenary but we decided not to go since it is already 5pm and we are all tired from all those activities, so Anwar sent us to the hotel. At the evening we planned to go Bhukit Bintang were they said we can find things with great deals but since it was raining, we just decided to spend the rest of the night at the hotel.

Day 6 - Early Singapore Trip

Picture
Since Air Asia had a promo, we booked our flight from KL to SG prior our KL flight, it just cost Php1,000 per person that’s why we grab the chance to visit Singapore again.

We woke up early in the morning on our day 6th because we already planned to take the KLIA express going to the LCCT for our early flight to Singapore via Air Asia. We had our breakfast at the airport, as usual bilangan ng gastos and utangs, lol.

We arrived at Changi International Airport at around 11am, immigration was not a problem at all, Thank God =) , from the airport we go directly to China Town to checked in. Bed and Breakfast Inn / Dormitory type, masyadong mahal kasi pag hotel ang pag stay-han, you know SG, expensive. Lol.

After we put our things, we had our lunch beside the dorm. So, it’s one day in SG and may naiwan pa kaming pera from KL which we already changed it from RM to SGD at KL airport, so di na kami namoblema kaya order lang kami ng order ng pagkain at dahil na rin sa gutom kami. Khibong ordered a crocodile dish, then we had fish fillet and chicken. After kumain cympre sobrang busog kami, then we asked for the bill, we pay almost 70 SGD then kinumpyut namin into Php, omg! Kumain kami ng mahigit 2.5k kaming apat lang. Ok this is Singapore, malaki ang pera nila. Lol.

Suroy suroy begins. All with MRT rides.

First destination was Clark Quay, nothing’s really changed too much in Clark Quay the last time I went there 5 years ago but still it’s beautiful. Then we went to Merlion Park and Esplanade which are one of the first famous landmarks in Singapore. At last! I saw one of the latest tourist destinations, The Marina Bay and Sands. Amazing structures and great view! We took pictures in a hurry because the rain rain is coming our way without umbrellas; we spent an hour or two at the café under the bridge (hehehe, that’s how we called it). As the rain stops, we headed at the MRT station and went to Bugis. It is where you can find good deals, discounted and lowest price for pasalubongs. I bought t-shirts, mugs and other souvenirs.

We had a tiring day, woke up at 3am and got to bed at around 10pm. I forgot that my cellphone was alarmed at 3am because of the early flight, I forgot to disabled it that’s why it disturbed our 2 roomates from Canada (?, were they Canadian guys? I forgot.lels) habang kami ang sarap ng tulog naming dahil sa pagod, nagising nalang ako when someone was shouting from the other bed “Hey! Hello? HeLLo! Your alarm! Hello?”, then I turned it off then sleep again, Keber! So sleepy kaya ako, hehehehee. The following morning,  wala kaming mukhang naihirap sa knila, mabuti lng early bird sila, gumising kami ng 6am, wala na sila sa bed, gumala na. lels.

Day 7 - 2hrs in Sentosa and Went home

Picture
Ganun kami kakapos sa oras, after our light breakfast offered at the Inn, we directly go to Vivo City, and we decided to take the cable car going to Sentosa Island rather taking the monorail.

I was really surprise, too many structures and buildings were built and some are still on constructions. Ang daming nabago sa Sentosa Island, It is where you can find its Universal Studios. Upon arrival at the Island, all we did was walked and strolled going to Universal Studios, well we all wanted to see and will have picture taking at U.S ang daming tao, picture dito, picture doon, lels.

Jet-Jet preferred not to come with us and she just spent the whole morning resting at the Inn, habang kami lakad dito, lakad doon sa Sentosa. After 2hrs in Sentosa, we decided to go back to the Inn and prepare things for our 4pm flight back to Philippines. But before going home, di namin kinalimutang tumawag kay Ingko BiL, wooot! Hehehee,, we never had the chance to see each other kasi sobrang busy nya daw, ay kami pala busy sa lakwatsa. Hehehehe..love u ingko!

The whole trip from 1 country to the other was a great experience! The memories are there to be keep; no one can take it away from me! Sobrang saya!!!

(Late post due to author observed the lenten season ^_^ )
We planned our Boracay summer getaway last December 2010, when mom and dad received their Getaway Certificate from Club Astoria as a gift for being a new member. Then dad chose to spend that certificate in Boracay. Since we are 7 in the family and it cost so much for the plane tickets alone, so we decided to make an adventure. A road-trip to Boracay via Oriental Mindoro.  Since our reservations to the Astorial Hotel in Boracay was March 23, we left Baguio City on March 22 at midnight because we fetch Jojo and Jessa at NAIA terminal 3. We left NAIA at around 8am and we took the journey to Batangas Port via Skyway to SLEX and Star Toll. The good thing was Skyway to SLEX and SLEX to Star  Toll are all inter-connected, so the whole travel from Manila to Batangas was smooth, comfortable and hassle free because at the end of Star Toll is the entry to Batangas port for a RO-RO to Calapan, Mindoro. We reached Batangas Port after 3hrs of travel from Manila and we directly  booked our vehicle in Montenegro Lines that will bring us to the Port of Calapan, Mindoro.
Picture
11:30am - early departure, Batangas Port. The Vessel was good, Clean and has an Air conditioned room with T.V. but we spent the whole 1.5hrs of sea travel sleeping because of our early departure in Baguio City. Approximately 2hrs sea travel from Batangas Port to Calapan (docking included). Then we drove to Calapan downtown to find a place to eat for lunch. We Left Calapan at around 2:30pm and cruise the 3hrs road to Roxas for another RO-RO ride to Caticlan, Aklan. We arrived around 5:30pm at the Roxas Port, there was a RO-RO trip to Caticlan at 6:30pm but we decided to crossed the sea in the following morning. We stayed at the room for rent near the port who has a parking space. The Montenegro Lines crew advised us to be ready at around 4am because the ship might depart between 5am to 6am.

Picture
We woke up early in the morning and get ourselves ready, we had our coffee at the store near the port entrance. We left our vehicle at the place we stayed in and pay for 150php a day. The vessel depart from Roxas at 6am. The Montenegro Lines really has this clean facilities. Our cruise going to Caticlan was a bit wavy, as in sobrang maalon, okay lang sana kung maalon lang kaso malalaki ang alon at ang sabi nila normal lang daw yun sa banda dun, kaya if you have phobias on water I'll recommend to take plane instead because you might have a suffering trip for that 4-5hours sea travel because of the waves. We arrived at Caticlan Jetty Port at around 11am and we had lunch at a chicken BBQ hauz near the Jetty Port Terminal, after lunch we headed to the terminal and pay all the fees needed. Fare from jetty port to boracay via Montenegro fast craft is 35php, non montenegro is 25php but we chose the montenegro. Now, this is the disappointing scenario; Fare from Jetty port to Boracay is 35php (since this was our ride), We thought its all that we need to pay, but then we need to pay another 50php each for the terminal fee, okay thats alright because there are always a terminal fee anyway anywhere in the Philippines. We thought thats all, but wait! there's more!, You need to pay 75php each for the environmental fee. OMG! huwaaattt! fare is only 35php but then you will spend over a hundred pesos to be in Boracay! (hey! it's just a 15minute ride men! ) . Mas maiintindan ko pa kung 75php ang pamasahe ng bangka at 35php ang terminal and 50php ang environmental fee. Hay naku! pano ba makakapasyal ang mga local tourist kung ganun kamahal. But anyway, maybe they think  all tourist in Boracay are rich people!, Well, that's Boracay!

Picture
Around 1pm when we check-in at the Astoria Boracay and I super love their place If i'm going to rate their place I'll give them the highest rate. The Receptionist is kind at hindi mahal ang smile. The crews are friendly and accomodating (hmmm, i guess that's all their job means..lol). I Love their rooms, super sosyal with wi-fi pa. The best spot for me is their Pool especially at night because of the lights. Sobrang ganda.
We plunge into the beach late in the afternoon because we spend our siesta time sleeping at the hotel room, sobrang ganda kasi ng room kaya parang ayaw mo ng lumabas, hehehee. At night you can stroll around the long stretch white and fine beach where you can see alot of activities at night such as bars, partying all night and you can watch Poi dancers performing at the seashore. There were no more sand castles to take picture with I guess pinagbabawal na yun. Boracay has plenty activities to offer; Diving. Parasailing,Parawsailing, Banana Boat Ride, Fly Fish Ride, Island Hopping, Snorkeling, get a henna tattoo and many more. In terms of food, there are lots of restaurant just outside hotels because they are everywhere, but if you're looking for a cheaper one you can go to D'Mall area to find good food and affordable, But if you're still looking for a cheaper one na parang nasa Mall ka lang, go to Mang Inasal and have you're unlimited rice =)

Picture
We did enjoy our 3days in Boracay we really had a great time. So we left Boracay on March 25 at 2pm and we took the 3pm Montenegro trip from Caticlan to Roxas. We arrived Roxas at around 8pm, so we decided to spent a night at Roxas and Continued our journey to Manila the next morning but we had a side trip to Puerto Galera first then to Manila. It was really a great roadtrip  with family.

Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

Air Force City, Clark, Pampanga - Every year in the month of February there is a Hot Air Balloon show in Clark, but this year they celebrate it together with the centennial year of Airplanes in the Philippine skies. There are about more than 20 Hot Air Balloon that flew every morning and afternoon during the 2-day celebration.
Picture
Dark Knight balloon riders
Clark is about 3.5-4 hours from Baguio City via SCTEX. We arrived at the Air Force City around 3pm. Since it's already late in the afternoon we decided to enter the field the next day. The admission starts at 5:30am and the Hot Air Balloon show is at 6:15am. We stayed a hotel in Angeles City. It's not a 5 star hotel but it's just good enough to stay for a night, we paid 800php for 2 rooms because we will be leaving early in the morning so, the owner charge us the 12hrs rate. You can find hotels just outside Clark near S.M Clark located at the Friendship highway. We woke up early the next morning to catch the Hot Air Balloon show at 6:15am, so we headed Air Force City Field around 5o'clock in the morning but surprisingly upon entering at the Clark entrance it's already a heavy traffic down to the field parking area which was I guess about 1km or 2 but good thing was it has a wide range parking space for everyone and the parking area costs 50php. Entrance fee to the field is 150php per person/kid. You can witness different shapes of Hot Air balloon, there was Dark Knight of Star wars, Animal cage, Mushroom, a Barrel, a snowman and among others. No worries of foods because there are many exhibitors inside. The good news is you can bring food inside, you can even bring a tent so that you can have a place to shed when the sun is coming up. We don't have an idea that it is something like a picnic ground inside if we knew we can bring along our tent and stay there until the sun downs in the afternoon (too bad,we kept on transferring a shed from the other just to make ourselves shed from a super heat of the sun).

Picture
If you tag along your kids, it's the best place too to fly a kite so it's nice to bring a kite but if you don't have one you can buy a kite inside. You can witness a different show in a day there was skydiving and fighter plane show off. You can also have a tour , I call it "aviation tour" (isnt is nice?, LoL) because the exhibitor will make you a tour on the different planes and they will make overview about every plane you pass by, I really didn't enjoy that tour, I thought it was a tour for a Hot Air Balloon ride but to our dissappointment it wasn't, we paid 250php per person for that tour =(.. then we knew you can ride a Hot Air Balloon for $150, yeah that expensive, hehehee.. so, nevermind nlang..

Picture
Upon going home, You can buy souvenirs. We bought 3 little Hot Air Balloon replicas as a souvenirs it cost 200php for the big one and 150php for the smaller one. It was a nice experince though, the highlight centers of course on the Hot Air Balloon shows who only has two schedule in a day. 6 A.M and 5 P.M, if you come after 6am you'll witness the next schedule of Hot Air Balloon show in the afternoon. So you'd better know the schedule first before entering the field so that you can catch the show in the right time.

Tiger close encounter - the Zoobic Safari Experience

Picture
We visited Subic so many times, but we never had the chance to experience their zoobic safari or Ocean Adventure. After we went to Coron Me and Jane talked about entering zoobic safari in Subic in our next visit and we will not mind the entrance fee this time because it’s the main reason why we are not entering the zoo. So, when m y parents planned to visit Subic again last weekend, we were excited. I mean really, really excited.

Day 1 - We left La Trinidad around 11am, Friday. La Trinidad to Subic is around 5hours travel using Subic-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX). We arrived Subic around 4pm and we go directly to UA (dad’s primary purpose upon visiting Subic.) Our first activity was going to the Carnival at night after we had our dinner. It was fun, playing games that you enjoyed most on your childhood. We are not sad gamers because we bring home our prizes such as mugs, glass, and pretzels, hahaha. We stayed at Casa Buena Hotel inside Subic Bay; we had no choice but to spend a night in this hotel because the dorm we always occupy to spend a night with was fully booked.  Too bad. That’s more cheaper =(

Picture
Day 2  - 8am - when we left our Hotel and go directly to UA, we spent our half day there. 1pm when we decided to go to Zoobic Safari but since there is a long queue going inside, we drove to Ocean Adventure we supposed to purchase our tickets for 5 when the cashier said that there are around 4,000 people inside, she said it’s too crowded already so we sum up the idea to be back the next day.  So, I thought we will not be going to Zoobic Safari anymore because we will be going to Ocean Adventure the next day not until Jane convinced mama and papa to go, yepeeeeeeiii!!! Zoobic Safari here we go!

Picture
So, what makes Zoobic Safari differs from the other zoo? Upon entering it’s the white tigers that would welcome you roaring so loud. They have this Parade of Animals, falls every weekend, we are lucky enough because we witnessed it what makes it more interesting is that there are animals that you haven’t seen for real, and I was amazed to see Greyhounds – the fastest  dogs on earth, aside from Camel (yes! There was a camel and I just said WOW upon seeing him, yes! Of course! No need to go to Saudi Arabia just to see one, hehehehe), there are also sheeps, donkeys, dwarf horses and someone calls my attention, It was Alpaca and a raptor, his eyes were covered. After the animal parade our tour guide, Che call our attention for our first activity, a   forest trail, seeing some animals on their cage and surprisingly I saw a puma, not a shoe brand (lol) but a family of cat, I was thinking if puma is here then somehow I would find eveready here (lol! He was also a cat, right? LMAO, nah! Just adding up some humor here, hehehe – waley? Or havey?).

Picture
Anyway, after our trail we are called to jump up in our trail tramp going to forbidden cave and Subic cave, it’s not a cave actually, they were some of the hundreds of bankers scattered around Subic Bay both caves are somewhat like a museum. After visiting the caves, we go back to our tramp to ride again bringing us to the close encounter of the tigers, there are more than 10 tigers on their own cage and we are just about a foot away from them, yeah! How close it was. Our next stop was exciting because we gonna ride the safari truck and go inside at the tigers haven, yeah! There are not in cage and roaming around at the big area with high fences, to avoid tigers hurting the visitors, we should ride the safe safari truck but I guess they were so nice at people or maybe they were just full because you are allowed to feed the tigers with chicken meat provided by the zoobic staff just inform them ahead before the tour that you are interested on feeding the tigers to have that closest encounter with them. They were  so behave and we don’t even encounter a loud roar from them, I guess they are so domesticated already, we were roaming around into the tigers for about 10-15minutes and we  headed the exit area and stayed there for 10-15minutes  break before taking again to the next stop.  Then our next stop before  the whole tour ended was the Croco Loco, the crocodile adventure you’ll gonna be so much loco loco over them because they were to huge in numbers they don’t fit in their pond so you’ll see some them are somewhere under the bridge you stepped in, it’s so scary to look at. We ended the whole safari experienced with a lots and lots of water. LoL! And the excitement of the Ocean Adventure the next day! Yahoooooo!!

Day 2 - Ocean Adventure

Picture
meet Leila , Olongapo Jones' friend.
We woke up early the next morning to be at the ocean park entrance to avoid a long queue. We went inside at around 9:00am, since the 1st show starts at 10:25, we've got the chance to stroll around the ocean adventure, they have also an Ocean Aquarium, similar to Ocean Park Manila but it has only limited creatures.

The First Show was the Olongapo Jones, they got the theme from "Indiana Jones". It's a show wherein a man name Olongapo Jones is a logger and trash buster. The show was fun and it's really suitable for kids.

The 2nd show was a Sea Lion show. Only one sea lion for this show, He'll do everything that his trainor wants him to do. You gonna love him for his tricks, for girls watch out because he might kiss you or reject you (hehehe), and if the trainor ask who wants to be a volunteer for a "do what I do" game (nah! i invited that name, heheheh) because in that game you will do what the sea lion did, he might make you hard things that you can't do. He might let you crawl and make some exhibitions. lol. But it's fun!.

Picture
Dolphins and a Whale
And the 3rd and final show. Of course, the dolphin show. Oh yeah! everyone was excited. It's my first time to see a dolphin show and it's amazing. I should say they were trained perfectly for the show. There were five dolphins and 1 whale having the show and everytime they had a show-off, audiences never fail to say "wow" especially children. It was a great experience and full of fun. I would recommend this trip for family bonding and for students.

Calumbuyan, Coral Garden, Ship Wreck

Our 3rd and last day was indulging into the salt walter, hehehee.  We should have started our tour by 8am but we asked our tour guide, Stephanie to move it around 10am because 3 of our companions are not feeling well, they took their medicine after breakfast and have their rest. We are all ready by 10am but unfortunately, Khibong didn’t make it, he had flu so he decided to stay and spend the whole day resting.

Picture
Our first stop is Calumbuyan Island, which is about  1.5hrs from town boat dock, as we go along to Calumbuyan we saw a huge area of Pearl Farm but we are not allowed to go near from it because its private.  Calumbuyan is a relaxing place; they have a wide area for visitors. Tables are shed by the trees, so it is really relaxing and a place you can enjoy the water. It is where you can see a lot of various fishes and different sizes, great corals not far away from the shore where even kids will enjoy their snorkeling adventure. We had pusit, grilled pork, vegetable and banana for lunch. You can relax yourself by staying at their hammocks. We stayed for an hour only at Calumbuyan because we wanted to go to Maquinit hot spring after day tour, so we are maximizing our time for each destination but too bad, we didn't make it..

Picture
15 to 20 minutes ride from Calumbuyan is Coral Garden.  The name itself explained what place it is. Big Corals, silent waters, sea urchins and a little under water current, that’s Coral Garden.  You can pass by a part of the Pearl Farm upon approaching the Area of Coral Garden. It is here that you will be amazed of the big corals it is really nice to look at. Sinubukan ni jane ang mamingwit sa site na ito, hehehehee. She borrowed the fishing gear from the boat man but too bad wala siyang nakuha kahit isa,LoL! Try harder tagjane! i know nag enjoy ka naman. =)

Picture
Not far from Coral garden site is the Lusong gunboat shipwreck. It's one of the Japanese ship that sank during WWII, yes! as in World War II and it is still there, according to our guide it has a total of 13 ships around Coron bay. We did enjoy our snorkeling moments here because there are tons of fishes to swim with, just feed them and surely they'll come on your way. Divers love to have their scuba at any of the shipwreck, where in they can go inside and have their adventure in the whole ship, exciting! and talking about jane's pamimingwit?? Finally she got 2! oh yeah! heheheee, super saya nung nakakuha na siya, at last! nice job! she even gave it nalang to the boatman para may maiuwing ulam, uyyy! ang bait naman.. hehehee.

Picture
The original plan was to go to Maquinit Hot Spring to refresh ourselves, but then when we arrived at the lodge, the boys decided not to dahil pagod na daw sila at hapon na,(huhuhuu, so bad i was expecting it pa naman). But it's still okay because we refreshed ourselves, us the ladies (me, Gina and Jane) we refreshed and we chilled ourselves with a "Sex on the beach" cocktail drink served by the lady at the mini bar of Darayonan. We were just so curious about the drink's name that's why we tried it, hehehehe. Cute name isn't it? LoL!
We slept early, early as after Survivor Philippines, kasi sobrang adik yung mga kasamahan ko sa palabas na yan hehehee, We slept early because our flight back to Manila is the next day.
To Sum it all ,my Coron Experience was a Blast! --- SUper saya, Super pagod, Super Amazing. I should say Coron is truly Blessed place with amazing nature with underwater adventure.

How to get there :
-  Manila to Coron flight is everyday , once a day by Cebu Pacific, Air  Philippines   and Zest Air.

Where to stay :
- There are lots of lodges and hotels in Coron downtown, you can visit www.darayonan.com

What to Eat :
- Try marinated danggit, not daeng or dried fish ha, marinated lang siya.. so yummy. you gotta try it. If you're staying at darayonan asked it for breakfast. But i guess it is available in the public market. (i forgot what is the native name of it, LoLz!)

What to bring:
- Repellant Lotion, Aqua shoes (better than slipper because of the sea urchins), Sun block.

Pasulubong:
- of course, Daeng! dried Danggit and Lapu-Lapu are available in minimal costs. I would suggest buy dried fish at the port, just say "manong, sa panatalan po".

Day 2 - Safari Experience and a touch of Water.
PictureCaluit Sunrise
Our 2nd day was full of excitement. We were informed a night before that we'll gonna leave Coron early morning, early as 3:30am. Then I set my alarm at 3:15, so that i'll have 15minutes to prepare myself. Yes! tumunog alarm ko, but I still feel like sleeping, Lolz!,, di kami nagising ni Gina (whom i shared a room) kung di kami ginising ni Willy (my bro-in-law).. we got ourselves ready at around 3:45am, then our Tour guide for the day, Stephanie, asked "Maam, di po ba kayo ba ininform na maaga po ang alis natin?" at dun nahiya na akong sumagot, hehehee, kasi kung di lang ako natulog ulit when my alarm rang sana on time kami hehehee..

Stop Over 1 - Calauit Island

PictureDomesticated Calamian Deer
Coron Town to Calauit Island is about 2-3hrs travel by Van, It was arranged by Darayonan since we get our whole itinerary from them in package, meals included. We arrived at the boat dock at around 6:30am and we had a boat transfer going to Calauit Island. We witness a great surise in the safari island. After we docked, the Island attendant (sorry but I forgot his name) handed us a registration sheet for the whole group. Then the tour started. When going inside we saw group of Calamian Deers, there are more or least 900 deers roaming around the island. You can easily identify which one is a male and female because males has horns while female doesn't have. Then we saw group of Giraffes and Zebras! WOW! as we approached the gazebo area to have our breakfast, Giraffes are walking on our way, it seems they knew they have visitors and one way of welcoming us is by walking through us.

PictureGiraffe Lovers
Giraffes are seems to be so friendly. After our breakfast, Our guide gave us a brief explanation about Caluit Island, how it all begun and how many species it has. He also gave us orientation of the behavior and characteristics of Giraffes. Now, our Safari truck is ready. It will be used for the whole tour, hence, we might get hurt or kicked by the wild animals, lol. Our guide get some leaves from the barn and we started to feed the giraffes while us on the truck. We had a great experience with them, feeding them, touching them, caressing them. Then we knew, they have names! oh yeah! , I can name few, there is Mylene called to be their "queen or star" then there is Athena, and Jerry.

Pictureeating zebras
We don't have the chance to get more closer with the zebras because we are afraid that they would give us a loving side kick.LoL! We just view them few steps from us. They are so cute and adorable, i love seeing them in group, super cute. They are smaller then the ordinary horse, they are some kind of a pony in size, but that stripes made them so nice to look at, all they eat are grasses but sometimes they take antibiotics when they get sick. I forgot how many zebras are there, but I guess it's more than 20 or 30. They also have this rivalry characteristics, when two zebra men are fighting for one zebra lady. uyyyy! kahit pala hayop may rivalry din, hehehhee.. Cute!.

PictureCivet Cat
Caluit also have cage animals such as, Civet Cat, Turtle, Porcupine, Wild Pig and Crocodile, too bad their bearcat died due to loneliness when the male bearcat eaten by its prey, phyton. It's the Civet Cat that is really interesting, because according to the guide it has the capacity to hypnotize his prey and It can produce first class coffee called Alamid Coffee (if im not mistaken, as far as my memory is concerned, hahahaha) from it's shit or waste or whatever you call it. hehehehe

Stop Over 2 - North Cay

Picture
After Caluit, Our next destination was North Cay; it is a new proposed itinerary of Darayonan. Since I already have read so much reviews of the North Cay, I got so really excited. We drove down to Salvacion Town and we have to transfer a boat at the dock (all our transfers are already arranged by Darayonan). It took 30-40 minutes boat ride to North Cay, but the long wait is much rewarded with clear and pristine waters, tingnan mo lang yung dagat eh parang ang sarap ng maligo.  North Cay should I say the best beach that we’ve visited so far, with a long stretch white beach and a fine sand that you will surely enjoy plus astonishing corals and fishes, I mean really lots of fishes. It is here too that we had a close encounter with the clown fish or better known as NEMO, yeyy! , We don’t bring any goggles, Good thing there were goggles for rent in the Island, there are cottages too, for you to hide from the heat of the sun. We had our lunch there, again prepared by our hosts, Darayonan.  We had lato (seeweeds), grilled fish and adobo? (lolz, I forgot waaaaa!!), but one thing I didn’t forgot we had a full and tasty lunch (hehehe). We spent an hour in North Cay and we did really had a great time snorkeling.

Stop Over 3 - Maltatayuk Island

Picture
Our last stop was Maltatayuk Island, we supposed should have South Cay but we chose Maltatayuk instead. North Cay, South Cay and Maltatayuk is owned by one person, and they are about 5 minutes boat ride from each other, But I should say, North Cay is the best among them. Maltatayuk has no cottage, and you can just simply swim around, I don’t know if there are corals but just near the shore are sands and some stones. We just stayed Maltatayuk about 15-20 minutes, I guess because we already much time for snorkeling at North Cay that’s why we spent more time soaking and swimming at Maltatayuk. We ended our day tour with sleeping the whole way back to Coron, hehehehee. To sum it all, we had a great, great and super great time.
