Day 2 - Safari Experience and a touch of Water.
PictureCaluit Sunrise
Our 2nd day was full of excitement. We were informed a night before that we'll gonna leave Coron early morning, early as 3:30am. Then I set my alarm at 3:15, so that i'll have 15minutes to prepare myself. Yes! tumunog alarm ko, but I still feel like sleeping, Lolz!,, di kami nagising ni Gina (whom i shared a room) kung di kami ginising ni Willy (my bro-in-law).. we got ourselves ready at around 3:45am, then our Tour guide for the day, Stephanie, asked "Maam, di po ba kayo ba ininform na maaga po ang alis natin?" at dun nahiya na akong sumagot, hehehee, kasi kung di lang ako natulog ulit when my alarm rang sana on time kami hehehee..

Stop Over 1 - Calauit Island

PictureDomesticated Calamian Deer
Coron Town to Calauit Island is about 2-3hrs travel by Van, It was arranged by Darayonan since we get our whole itinerary from them in package, meals included. We arrived at the boat dock at around 6:30am and we had a boat transfer going to Calauit Island. We witness a great surise in the safari island. After we docked, the Island attendant (sorry but I forgot his name) handed us a registration sheet for the whole group. Then the tour started. When going inside we saw group of Calamian Deers, there are more or least 900 deers roaming around the island. You can easily identify which one is a male and female because males has horns while female doesn't have. Then we saw group of Giraffes and Zebras! WOW! as we approached the gazebo area to have our breakfast, Giraffes are walking on our way, it seems they knew they have visitors and one way of welcoming us is by walking through us.

PictureGiraffe Lovers
Giraffes are seems to be so friendly. After our breakfast, Our guide gave us a brief explanation about Caluit Island, how it all begun and how many species it has. He also gave us orientation of the behavior and characteristics of Giraffes. Now, our Safari truck is ready. It will be used for the whole tour, hence, we might get hurt or kicked by the wild animals, lol. Our guide get some leaves from the barn and we started to feed the giraffes while us on the truck. We had a great experience with them, feeding them, touching them, caressing them. Then we knew, they have names! oh yeah! , I can name few, there is Mylene called to be their "queen or star" then there is Athena, and Jerry.

Pictureeating zebras
We don't have the chance to get more closer with the zebras because we are afraid that they would give us a loving side kick.LoL! We just view them few steps from us. They are so cute and adorable, i love seeing them in group, super cute. They are smaller then the ordinary horse, they are some kind of a pony in size, but that stripes made them so nice to look at, all they eat are grasses but sometimes they take antibiotics when they get sick. I forgot how many zebras are there, but I guess it's more than 20 or 30. They also have this rivalry characteristics, when two zebra men are fighting for one zebra lady. uyyyy! kahit pala hayop may rivalry din, hehehhee.. Cute!.

PictureCivet Cat
Caluit also have cage animals such as, Civet Cat, Turtle, Porcupine, Wild Pig and Crocodile, too bad their bearcat died due to loneliness when the male bearcat eaten by its prey, phyton. It's the Civet Cat that is really interesting, because according to the guide it has the capacity to hypnotize his prey and It can produce first class coffee called Alamid Coffee (if im not mistaken, as far as my memory is concerned, hahahaha) from it's shit or waste or whatever you call it. hehehehe

Stop Over 2 - North Cay

Picture
After Caluit, Our next destination was North Cay; it is a new proposed itinerary of Darayonan. Since I already have read so much reviews of the North Cay, I got so really excited. We drove down to Salvacion Town and we have to transfer a boat at the dock (all our transfers are already arranged by Darayonan). It took 30-40 minutes boat ride to North Cay, but the long wait is much rewarded with clear and pristine waters, tingnan mo lang yung dagat eh parang ang sarap ng maligo.  North Cay should I say the best beach that we’ve visited so far, with a long stretch white beach and a fine sand that you will surely enjoy plus astonishing corals and fishes, I mean really lots of fishes. It is here too that we had a close encounter with the clown fish or better known as NEMO, yeyy! , We don’t bring any goggles, Good thing there were goggles for rent in the Island, there are cottages too, for you to hide from the heat of the sun. We had our lunch there, again prepared by our hosts, Darayonan.  We had lato (seeweeds), grilled fish and adobo? (lolz, I forgot waaaaa!!), but one thing I didn’t forgot we had a full and tasty lunch (hehehe). We spent an hour in North Cay and we did really had a great time snorkeling.

Stop Over 3 - Maltatayuk Island

Picture
Our last stop was Maltatayuk Island, we supposed should have South Cay but we chose Maltatayuk instead. North Cay, South Cay and Maltatayuk is owned by one person, and they are about 5 minutes boat ride from each other, But I should say, North Cay is the best among them. Maltatayuk has no cottage, and you can just simply swim around, I don’t know if there are corals but just near the shore are sands and some stones. We just stayed Maltatayuk about 15-20 minutes, I guess because we already much time for snorkeling at North Cay that’s why we spent more time soaking and swimming at Maltatayuk. We ended our day tour with sleeping the whole way back to Coron, hehehehee. To sum it all, we had a great, great and super great time.

Day 1 - CORON ISLAND LOOP
We took the Cebu Pacific Air flight going to Busuanga, Palawan. ETD 9:05 and ETA 10.05 but Manila to Busuanga usually run over 45minutes only. When we got there, Some airport staff handed us a Tourist Information Sheet, it's a must for every visitors of Coron. Then our contact Lodge (Darayonan Lodge) fetch us, It takes 30-40 minutes drive from Airport to Coron town, I was really suprise there are no "Slippery when wet or Sharp Curve ahead" road signs Instead I saw "Ranch Ahead" Signs, because Coron itself is a "ranchohan" we drove to the lodge and get our 10minutes rest before we start our Coron loop.

Stop Over 1 - Siete Pecados Marine Park

Picture
Marine Life at Siete Pecados
After our rest and getting ourselves ready for the water, Our tour guide, Jinkee prepare everything that we need for our trip (Our Lunch, Gadgets, and others) We rented a snorkel sets at the market near the boat dock for 100php per day, it's supposed to be 150php but tinatawaran namin, hehehe, basta tumawad lang para makamura. But be careful of using it because if you lost it you will pay more than 100x of the price, 100php will turn into 1,500-2,000php, so just take extra careful.
So, from the dock, it takes 10minutes boat ride to Siete Pecados. One of the best fish feeding area. It's called Siete Pecados because there are total of 7 islets in the area, who they believe and a myth of seven siblings who have drowned and become islets. Water Current is a lil bit strong in the afternoon that's why we decided to take the Siete Pecados first. It's already noon when we reach there but the hunger we felt washed up when we begin our fish feeding sessions (LoL!). Variety of fishes and sizes. The best way to feed? just stay at the boat ladder and feed them with bread, so really need to have lotsa lotsa of bread. Snorkel is a must, you gonna miss a closer encounter with the fishes without snorkels. Upon leaving the Siete Pecados, we keep on saying "parang bitin, super dami ng isda grabeh" lol :-Þ

Entrance Fee: 100php

Stop Over 2 - Banol Beach

Picture
Clear Waters of Banol Beach
From Siete Pecados, Banol beach is about 15minutes. You will love the aquamarine water while approaching the beach. Banol beach is one of the many white beaches in Coron, it is in care of the Tagbanua people. There are huts for you to stay and shed from the sun. We had our yummy lunch there, with crabs, talong salad, pork w/ camote and banana which was prepared by our hosts from Darayonan Lodge. Full lunch doesn't matter because we have all our time to burn it into the water with the fishes that are just in the shore to swim by. It is a good location for snorkeling and kayaking. Just be careful because there are some sea urchins that you might step on. This is where you can enjoy swimming especially with kids. Too bad because mosquitoes are bitting us while we are on the cottages.

Entrance Fee : 100php

Stop Over 3 - Twin Lagoon

Picture
Entrance to the Lagoon
From Banol beach, reaching Twin Lagoon is about 15minutes, you just cannot expect that behind great rock formations are great lakes and lagoon. During high tides, going inside the lagoon is to climb in a rock a bit,no worries because there is a ladder for you to climb easily. During low tides, it is more exciting to try to swim under the narrow opening on the side of the mountain for you to get in. Going through it is like moving into another world, another dimension. The water is cool and silent. Trees cling to the sides of gray limestones. You can more appreciate and see the beauty of the lagoon by looking up, lifevests supported.  The serenity of the place makes you believe that Coron is totally a blessed place.

Entrance Fee : 100php

Stop Over 4 - Barracuda Lake

Picture
Enjoying at the Barracuda Lake
10minutes from Twin Lagoon is Barracuda Lake. Where hot and cold, fresh water meet under the surface. The most interesting is the mysterious freshwater Barracuda Lake located in between towering limestones and can be only accessed by hiking with all your gears for 5-10mins along tricky limestone path because behind it, is the wonderful scenery of barracuda lake. You will just enjoy swimming and soaking at the water, snorkeling not needed because of the deep water, you can see none but just rocks somewhere on the sides of the lake. Some says diving is a great experience at barracuda. Water is deep blue green.

Entrance Fee: 100php

Stop Over 5 - Kayangan Lake

Picture
top view on your way to Kayangan Lake
I should say, this is the best of all that we've been to. In one word, this lake is just absolutely MAGICAL. Hiking to the lake is extremely not a joke. Rocky and slippery. It takes 10 - 15minutes going up depends on your stamina. On rainy days, expect mosquitoes will attack guests so better bring some repellant lotion for it. After the hike, you will be rewarded with fascinating view of the lake and the crystal clear  fresh water. But do not forget to stop at the top of the trail because it is the most photographed spot in Coron.

Entrance Fee: 200php
